The renowned opera stage director, Vivien Hewitt, who was announced a few weeks ago is set to raise the bar insofar artistic direction is concerned. Brought to life by camilleriparismode, the family firm that has been associated with luxury fabrics and high-end interiors since 1890, Aurora’s Tosca will flaunt Luke Azzopardi costumes and sets designed by Andrew Borg Wirth as part of the brand’s artistic involvement.

It is the quantum leap that brings out “that little bit out of the ordinary”, and in this regard, camilleriparismode really fits the bill.

This collaboration brings a whole revolution to the way opera at the Aurora is constructed, particularly in its aesthetic language. This year’s Tosca will be the fruit of artistic conversations and exchanges between renowned artists in their own right and might. Vivien Hewitt brings a wealth of experience and huge respect for opera tradition as the point of departure for something exciting that lends itself to new artistic expression. Tosca at the Aurora is part of the Gozo Cultural Support Programme, (within the Ministry for Gozo and Arts Council Malta) and is being supported by Valletta 2018 foundation as part of its cultural programme.
