And tonight, Saturday November 2nd 2013, the Leone Band will be rounding off its special celebrations held to mark its own sesquicentenary, with the annual concert, Leone Band in concert at the Aurora Opera House.

2012-2013 has indeed been a very special and equally busy year for the Leone Philharmonic Society. Concerts and events have dotted our cultural calendar – each and every one bigger and grander than the preceding one. To mind come the Society’s hosting of the L-Istrina show in Gozo last December, the concert of Sacred Music inside the Gozo Cathedral, the televised June edition of Leone Goes Pop which made the headlines bringing together a line-up of Deborah C, Chiara, Kevin Borg and Gianluca Bezzina, the July repeat performance, the historic Jubilee Concert in August in Republic Street with synchronised fireworks and the Leone Goes Pop in October in Valletta’s Pjazza Teatru Rjal. This year of jubilation also saw the extraordinary celebrations in April, when the Leone Philharmonic Society commemorated with greater accent, its bond with the Gozo Cathedral, sealed in 1956 with the donation of the Santa Marija statue by the same Society to Gozo’s Mother-church. All of these events were complemented with fund-raising events, philanthropic events, exhibitions as well as the recent mammoth success brought about by the new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff at the Aurora Opera House.

Now, this special year and these special celebrations, carrying the mark of the club President’s 25th anniversary, are set to conclude with the annual band concert – Leone Band in concert. Entrance to the event is free of charge, but seating requires tickets which may be obtained at the door. Leone Band in concert starts at 8pm. Doors are open at 7.30pm.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to the Aurora Opera House,
Welcome to Leone Band in concert.
