TVM – Television Malta – will in the coming weeks and months broadcast more local opera productions, particularly those produced at Gozo’s Aurora and Astra theatres. This was announced by the Malta Public Broadcasting Services Ltd (PBS Ltd) a few days ago when a delegation from the company visited both Gozitan theatres.

Following the broadcast of the 2014 operas, hence, Il Trovatore from the Aurora Opera House, the PBS and the Gozo theatres reiterated their collaboration to have the opera in Gozo filmed and broadcasted on national television. PBS Chairman, Tonio Portughese announced that the national television stations will next October film Verdi’s La Traviata from the Aurora Opera House and Puccini’s La Boheme from the Astra.

>Dr Portughese said this on Saturday January 24th 2015 when he visited the two Gozitan theatres and presented on DVD, copies of the filmed opera production. A delegation from the Aurora theatre, headed by President Dr Michael Caruana welcomed Dr Portughese and his entourage.

Il Trovatore was filmed in High Definition (HD).

Further information about the opera production will be announced in due course. However, it is to be noted that demand for opera tickets is extraordinarily high this year, so patrons, particularly regular ones who customarily prefer having their usual seats are highly urged to effect their booking at their earliest convenience.
