IS SET FOR BROADCAST ON TVM2

The Aurora’s new production of Tosca was well received by the hundreds of people who saw it on the gala evening of October 13th as well as the multitudes of others whom the revolutionary opera project reached through social media and other channels. It was filmed, on the night, by PBS, the State broadcaster. An immediate clip of the encored Final Scene in Act 1, in which baritone Lucio Gallo alongside the Aurora Opera Chorus gave the most moving of Te Deums was viewed by more than 5000 people. It still continues to generate interest to this very day and its broadcast on television marks the finalized edited product which will then be available for promotional and archival purposes from PBS Ltd and the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora.

Tosca will be broadcast, locally, on TVM2. Simultaneously it will be streamed live on www.tvm.com.mt and subsequently available on demand from the television station’s website.

The October performance was dedicated to the memory of Joseph Abela, the theatre’s finance officer who passed away unexpectedly while serving his 35th consecutive year in office. This broadcast serves as a tribute to the guild of hardworking volunteers at the Aurora. It is only right that they feel proud with the exceptional work they have done, which the population at home, in Malta and elsewhere, will have the opportunity to enjoy and admire.

The administration of the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora would like to thank Public Broadcasting Services Limited for its collaboration.
