Paul Stellini live-painting fetches €1,000 for Ukraine war victims.
The Leone Grand Christmas Variety at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora was the main event in the Christmas-in-Gozo programme, run by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo, on the Friday before Christmas, 23rd December. Gozo-based artist Paul A. Stellini was asked to live-paint the band and audience at the Aurora Opera House on the special night.
A charity collection run during the concert in aid of the European Parliament’s Generators of Hope campaign for the Ukrainian population raised €1,360. Upon completion of his work, Paul Stellini announced that he was going to auction his work to add to that amount.

The opening price was set at €200, with interested patrons tendering their bids by email. The closing date was set 1st January, when it was announced that an anonymous bidder won the auction, with Paul Stellini’s going for €1,000.00.
These will be added to the concert collection and some other donations that trickled in. Together, they cover the purchase of 5 electricity generators which, with the help of the Armed Forces of Malta will be delivered to a depot in Poland and made available to Ukrainian families bracing themselves for a winter without electricity.
