TEATRU TAL-OPRA AURORA,
VICTORIA, GOZO, MALTA
The young singers at the Aurora Youth Choir were very eager and delighted to present a very special production for Mothers and their babies with Your Mother and Mine.

Previous editions of Leone Goes Pop have always been open air. This one’s going indoors. Previous editions in the pre-pandemic years seem ages ago. Now everyone speaks of a new-normal, or back to normal. But who want’s normal when LGP promises to be this special???

a few questions answered

If there’s one thing we can say about this year’s Leone Goes Pop for certain is the massive public interest it has generated since its going public! Tickets have been going fast. Complements have been in high demand too. And on top of that, lots of people asking lots of questions. So let us try to answer some, in brief and to the point.

Who’s performing?

Most definitely, the Leone Band, conducted by Colin Attard. An ever-favourite, the Aurora’s children chorus is known to be rehearsing for Leone Goes Pop, so expect to see these young faces at some point or another. But we have already said: we’re announcing the list of singers (and quite a list!) in due course. Expect the first names by the weekend, and by next week you might need your second hand if you still count on your fingers!

What’s the set-list?

This 13th edition has long been in the making. Now it’s here, we don’t want it gone too quick. So there’s quite a set list, featuring some immortal classics alongside current rock anthems hitting the charts. We won’t be letting any State secret when saying our audiences may expect some Pink Floyd as well as a mix of Italian and Maltese language too.

Shall we dance?

The event is understandably planned seated, but it is very likely audiences will be invited to party time and again. Then again, for those who want to party a little harder, there are no less than 60 boxes available, of which, quite a few have already been taken!

What should we wear?

Leone Goes Pop has always been famous for its statements. (Remember everyone with a hat on?!). The most important thing is that one is comfortable in his own skin – whether its shorts and flops or tails and tops.

What should we expect?

Well, our track record speaks for itself. We’ve had mock strip-tease, we’ve had a public bath in the main square. We’ve had our conductor on a horse carriage, several World Cup parties, dancers on a boat, singers on an open truck or at an open-bar and actors on a vespa; all of which took place outside. This time round, in the comfort of our own home, one wouldn’t expect any less.

Tickets?

Tickets are free of charge and may best be requested from our website www.teatruaurora.com. In an effort to make it a more memorable night, thanks to our catering operator, patrons may add some hospitality premiums, at €15.00 also requestable via our own website.
